[October 2010] The Vertical Necking Machine is designed to neck down balloon tubes. This process step comes prior to the balloon forming process. The target is to reduce the tube diameter beforehand in order to eliminate the calibration process after balloon forming. The tube is heated partially by a specifically designed air nozzle and the diameter is reduced by axial moving of two linear slides with different speed and travel. The final diameter of the tube can be changed by adjusting either temperature, speed, travel or relative motion of the two axis. This machine was specially constructed by BW-TEC for final tests of
balloon catheters. It was developed to test balloons of their
resistance. A balloon catheter is filled with water and its pressure is
displayed by a connected measuring device. A
motorized hydraulic cylinder is automatically
filled. Pressure is built up by a PID of a stepper motor. Testing is
possible in-between 2-50 bar and tolerance is + / - 0.2 bar |

[April 2008] This Balloon moulding machine 272000 is a laboratory version. It is used for the production of plastic balloons for angioplasty, and is equipped with one product fixture. This Lab moulder produces a daily rate of 100 balloons. The tube, placed in a 3-part mould is held together by a clamp equipped with a weight in order to achieve the necessary pulling force during the moulding process. The process pressure ranges up to 50 bar, (5 MPa) and the required temperature is transferred by using heated DI water of 96°C. Moreover, the process parameters for specific products can be stored in separate menus. |
